BACKGROUND COLOUR
GENERATION is a new study following the journey of young Australians, as they transition to life beyond school.
Year 10 students from over 1100 schools across the country are being invited to take part in the first year of 10-year national study.
GENERATION aims to track interests, hopes and aspirations of a generation, providing participants, guardians and educators valuable insights into career interests and post-school plans of young people.
Who will be taking part?
The first survey of GENERATION will be conducted with Year 10 students from MAY - NOV 2022.
Schools selected in the sample will be contacted directly by the GENERATION project team in Term 2 of 2022 to discuss participation of all Year 10 students.
What does it mean for your school?
If you are participating in GENERATION in 2022 and need to get in contact with a member of the school team, please email generation@acer.org and make sure to include your School ID number.
What are the benefits?
The GENERATION survey will investigate factors influencing the educational pathways of young people in Australia.
Report Summary
Each participating school will receive a summary report of Year 10 students' responses about a month after the completion of the survey.
Career Insights
This will provide insight into the career intentions, choices, and expectations of this group of students, where no single child will be identifiable.
Guiding Discussion
This information can guide class discussions about subject selection and career planning.
